A Comfort Zone

Somebody once said that everything you want and do not already have is outside your comfort zone.  And for those who believe their current life is complete, or those who are taking a temporary rest before setting new goals, a comfort zone is a good place to be: rest and relaxation are important to keep us healthy and balanced.

I liken a comfort zone to a plant pot that is getting too small for the plant it carries.  There comes a point when if you don’t give the plant a bigger pot, it will start to look tired, dull, and possibly stop blooming – or die.  A larger pot, with fresh compost and more space gives it a new lease of life, allows it to grow bigger and flourish.

A quote comes to mind by Grace Hopper (1906 – 1992), a US naval officer and computer pioneer: ‘A ship in port is safe, but that’s not what ships are built for’.

So here are two questions to ask yourself:

  1. Where are you in relation to your comfort zone at the moment?
  2. And what were you built for?

I'd love to hear your answers and insights.
